The Masters course in Planning with specialization in Environmental Planning has completed 30 years addressing the growing need of incorporating environmental sensitivity in formulating spatial plans Environmental Concerns are not Scale Specific – “ Think Globally and Act Locally” is a common thread right from Agenda 21 formulated in 1992 to the targets of Sustainable Development Goals , 2030.

In the two years the students are exposed to scientific methods of incorporating Environmental concerns at various scale of development planning- Local, Urban & Regional. From Environmental Monitoring , Laboratory Experiments, Environmental Impact Assessments to Carrying Capacity Analysis , Environmental Economics, Legislation etc. The students are trained to tackle the existing and emerging Environmental Challenges facing human settlements Planning for Eco- Sensitive Zones, Critically Polluted Industrial Areas, Mining Areas, Biodiversity Conservation etc. are themes which are handled in academic exercises.


At the end of the course the graduates are expected to meaning fully contribute in areas that need to address Environmental concerns backed by sound knowledge to handle varied complexity and scales..
